The Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is scheduled for a leave of absence from all official duties this month.
This was announced by Akyeamehene Nsuase Poku during the first meeting of the Asanteman Council on January 11, 2024.
Otumfuo is expected to take a two-week break from all official duties after a hectic and packed 2023.
He will also use the break to reinvigorate himself.
His Majesty will take a trip out of the country for the break to ensure it is not interrupted, and he gets the needed rest during the period.
He will leave the country on Saturday, January 13, 2024.
The Monarch’s past year was packed with a series of international duties in the United Kingdom (UK) twice and Trinidad and Tobago as well as other national and regional duties.
He is scheduled for a year-long celebration this year, as plans are far advanced for the 25th enstoolment anniversary and commemoration of the Sagrenti War anniversary. The celebration will include dinners, durbars and symposiums.
Otumfuo is expected to return before the commemoration of the Sagrenti War in February.
